My name is Erika. I honed my chops in the furnace of small towns and big cities, churches and nonprofits, loosely organized bands of ruffians and huge mega-orgs crumbling under the fall of the empire, grassroots causes and treetop theory, poetry and prose, whiteness and brownness, sprinting and jogging, on the court and in the classroom, under the sunsets of Polynesia and the sunrises of…well, the sun rises there, too, actually (international date line cuts straight through the motherland).

I also went to school and stuff, got some degrees and worked for some pretty cool people while juggling a family, mental health crises, many a career transition, and a general disdain for the way things are done in the shadow of the empire (pick your own empire - I really don’t mind).

I am a sweet, sweet girl to some and a radical to others. I am bless-her-heart southern girl and afakasi/hapa island girl. I learned to speak different languages and fit into different cultures in search of where I belong, and you know what I found out? I belong here, on Earth, with you.
