Waiting to Exhale
πAn interesting thing is happening to me as I talk to more and more folks about the current era. I am realizing one truth: We are all Waiting to Exhale - yes, like Whitney, Angela, Forest, Lela and Loretta were in '95.
π As I sit in my childhood home watching my family of origin hold me and my child, I am "shooping" and thinking about these lyrics that are on repeat:
"Sometimes you laugh, Sometimes you cry.
Life never tells us the when's or why's.
When you've got friends to wish you well,
You'll find a point when you will exhale."
π It is so simple. To wait. To wait for the out breath. To wait for the good times. To wait for a friend to hold our hands and tell us that it is going to be ok. To tell us that we are going to survive this and on the other side there will be love and hope and care.
π We are all waiting to exhale. Take a minute to listen to Whitney shoop today. It will allow your soul to let go: to exhale the anger, the fear, the despair. Just know that I am a friend who wishes you well. Find your people. Hold them tight. We will survive this, and we will remember our beauty on the other side. Remember your beauty even in the trenches. You deserve to exhale.
Find your people. Hold them tight.
